Al Jalila Foundation, a global philanthropic organization dedicated to transforming lives through medical education and research, today announced that Microsoft has donated USD 1 million of software to support the organization’s humanitarian and healthcare programmes.

Microsoft, Etisalat sign global framework agreement

The grant is part of Microsoft’s Software Donation Programme to non-profit organizations (NGOs), which aims to support charities as they work to serve the community and improve lives. The software will support Al Jalila Foundation as it seeks to modernize its IT suite with the latest applications. The Microsoft tools were meticulously selected to allow the foundation to enhance its internal efficiency and productivity.

Expressing appreciation for the significant software donation, Dr Abdulkareem Al Olama, Chief Executive Officer of Al Jalila Foundation, said, “Technology is a key driver of innovation and we are delighted to partner with Microsoft to improve lives. Every contribution – whether in the form of donations, expertise or products and services – is critical to our success, and we are grateful to philanthropists and corporates alike that come together under the shared realization that today’s hope is tomorrow’s reality. We are proud to be part of Microsoft’s global community, working together to transform lives.”

“At Microsoft, we believe we are duty-bound to support communities everywhere, especially organizations whose sole purpose is to help people,” said Samer Abu Ltaif, Regional General Manager Microsoft Gulf.

“Al Jalila Foundation is a shining example of how those endowed with fortitude, talent and generosity of spirit, can make a difference. We greatly admire the work the foundation has done, and continues to do, in the service of community health. Its achievements will serve not only today’s citizens, but their children and their children’s children. We are proud to support them with this donation. We have carefully selected the right tools for their operational needs so that they can concentrate on doing what they do best – making lives better.”

Microsoft’s Software Donation Program is a global initiative that provides productivity tools for more than 60,000 non-profit organizations around the world. By having the latest applications in place, these entities can see real benefits in operational efficiency as they continue their important work. The programme has provided more than USD 3.9 billion worth of software to non-profits around the world since its establishment in 1998.

Al Jalila Foundation, a member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives scheme, continues to invest in innovative healthcare programmes to position Dubai at the forefront of medical innovation. One hundred per cent of each donation received by the foundation is invested in medical treatment, education and research to improve lives within the UAE and the wider region.
