Novak Djokovic boosted his hopes to win a calendar slam with a victory over qualifiers Jack Draper 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round match of the Wimbledon on Monday.
The Serbian, who will become only the third person in the history to complete a calendar slam, is on course to achieve the rare feat.
Having won the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year, in February and following it up with a victory at French Open last week, Djokovic has a chance to emulate the feat of his predecessors should he win Wimbledon and the US Open later in the year.
Djokovic, who is bidding for his sixth title at Wimbledon, sent the world number 253 Draper crashing out of the tournament with a dominant display of power and experience.
Stefanos Tsitsipas, whom Djokovic defeated in the final of the French Open, crashed out of the tournament after a 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 loss against 57th-ranked Frances Tiafoe of the United States.
In another big upset of the day, Sloane Stephens of the US stunned two-time champion Petra Kvitova in a straight sets of 6-3, 6-4.
Among the other winners on the day one of the Wimbledon were, Garbine Muguruza, second seed Aryna Sabalenka, Madison Keys and Ekaterina Alexandrova.
