The Arab Golf Federation (AGF) in cooperation with the Saudi Golf Federation (SGF) will host a qualifying event in Abu Dhabi this January, ahead of next month’s PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers.
Taking place at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, on January 26-27, the tournament will see the top two players from both an Arab National Amateur category as well as an international professional division qualify for next month’s marquee event on the Asian Tour.
The 36-hole qualifier event will be held on the National Course at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. The tournament is open to Arab National male amateur golfers with a handicap of 0.4 and lower (as approved by a registered Golf Association or Federation) as well as all male Professional golfers who are PGA affiliated.
Looking ahead to next month’s $5 million PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers, which will be held at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) between February 3-6, Majed Al Sorour, Secretary General of the Arab Golf Federation said: ‘We are very excited to be hosting the fourth edition of the PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers, which will be taking place on the Asian Tour for the very first time in early February. In our capacity at the Saudi Golf Federation, we thought it would be a great opportunity to not only embrace both the Arab golfing community but also international professionals from further afield.
Sorour continued: ‘By hosting this tournament under the Arab Golf Federation banner, we hope to attract the region’s best golfers to not only have another opportunity to play in a competitive environment but to also have the chance to qualify for a prominent international tournament. As such, I would like to thank Abu Dhabi Golf Club in advance for hosting us and I look forward to a competitive 36-hole event next week.”
The tournament will see a maximum field of 60 players, across both the amateur and professional divisions, with entries accepted on a first-come first-served basis.
All players must follow the Abu Dhabi government authorities protocol for Covid-19 at the time of the tournament.
