Tunisian born Mounir Lazzez was the first fighter born and raised in the MENA region to be signed by UFC. The powerful welterweight is looking to make his mark in the division as he faces undefeated prospect Gabriel Bonfim.

Bonfirm will have the home crowd advantage which doesn’t faze the courageous Lazzez, who said. “The fight camp was very good. Excellent. Every day I was in the gym. I didn’t skip one session at my training camp. It was ugly, dirty. And that where you know it’s good.”

Lazzez has a significant following in the UAE, having trained in Dubai previously, and fought twice in Abu Dhabi with the UFC, along with appearances in Dubai and Abu Dhabi previous to his UFC career. Lazzez had his full training camp in Dubai, leading up to his upcoming fight, and looks to show the world the level of talent that comes out of the UAE.

Lazzez is now looking forward to getting back inside the Octagon, to showcase all the skills he has managed to improve with his coaches and teammates in Dubai.

“You know, my last fight was in April, I wanted to stay busy, honestly,” he said. “I took little time, but all for the good because I spent more time focusing, developing my skill, and here we go. We’re in Brazil.”

You can watch Mounir Lazzez take on Gabriel Bonfim at UFC® 283: TEIXEIRA vs. HILL, starting at 3am GST (Sunday) on ADM Sports 2, AD Fight, Starzplay and UFC Arabia.
