Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri has discussed with Romanian Prime Minister Victor-Viorel Ponta, friendship and cooperation ties between the U.A.E. and Romania, and ways to strengthen them.

During the meeting held at the Cabinet headquarters in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, Al Mansouri conveyed the regards and best wishes of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to the Romanian Prime Minister, and to the people of Romania to achieve more progress.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ahmed Ali Al Mualla, U.A.E. Ambassador to Romania, Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Abdullah Al Turifi, CEO of Emirates Securities and commodities Authority and Mohammed Hassan Al Qamzi, CEO of the Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zones.

The two sides discussed the relations between the U.A.E. and Romania, focusing on vital sectors such as agriculture, food industries, tourism, energy and renewable energy. They agreed on setting up a specified framework to follow up development of cooperation ties and remove any impediments that hamper its expansion. The two sides also agreed to set up a joint team to follow up the resolutions of the U.A.E.- Romania Joint Economic Committee, and meetings with officials.

Al Mansouri said the U.A.E. led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, are keen on the development of relations with the friendly countries, of which one is Romania.

For his part, the Romania’s PM asked Al Mansouri to convey his regards to the Vice President and wishes to U.A.E. for more progress. He stressed that his country is looking forward to strengthening ties with Romania in all fields, especially in the area of agriculture. He noted that Romania is the food basket of Europe given its huge agricultural capabilities and potential, adding that the U.A.E. is interested in this field, which serves its food security policy.
