Prominent UAE businessman Khalifa Juma Al Nabooda contributed Dh1 million to illuminate 100,000 lights on Burj Khalifa as part of the World’s Tallest Donation Box.
Al Nabooda’s donation helps provide 100,000 meals to individuals and families affected by the coronavirus (covid-19) pandemic.
Launched as part of the ’10 million meals’ campaign, the World’s Tallest Donation Box enables companies, entities and the public to purchase lights of Burj Khalifa, for as little as Dh10 each, to collectively donate 1.2 million meals or food parcels to low-income families and individuals. For every light purchased for Dh10 through the website www.tallestdonationbox.com, one meal is provided to someone in need, with the ultimate goal to illuminate the 1.2 million lights on the façade of the world’s tallest building in solidarity with communities hard hit by the pandemic.
Al Nabooda said, “Through its humanitarian initiatives, the UAE continues cementing its status as a global role model for solidarity and coexistence in the face of challenges.”
He added that creative initiatives like the World’s Tallest Donation Box and the ’10 million meals’ campaign strengthen the social cohesion that distinguishes the UAE. “Such campaigns encourage people to help those in need across the country amid the ongoing crisis facing the world, and especially during the holy month of Ramadan.”
Under the supervision of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and the Social Solidarity Fund Against Covid-19, meals and food parcels were delivered in a logistical distribution network developed in collaboration with partnering entities to reach beneficiaries across the country.
