HH Sheikh Mohammed to invest Dhs4b for startups with a new initiative for programmers

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, launched on Saturday a national programme for programmers in cooperation with Google, Microsoft, Amazon (AWS), Cisco, IBM, HPE, LinkedIn, Nvidia and Facebook.

The programme has been launched with the aim of training and attracting 100,000 programmers, establishing a thousand major digital companies within 5 years, and increasing investment directed at startups from Dhs1.5 billion to Dhs4 billion.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid said on Twitter, “Today, we launched a national programme for programmers in cooperation with Google, Microsoft, Amazon (AWS), Cisco, IBM, HPE, LinkedIn, Nvidia and Facebook. “

Sheikh Mohammed said that the goal was to train and attract 100,000 computer experts and establish 1,000 major digital companies within 5 years. This will also lead to the increase of investment to startups from Dhs1.5 billion to Dhs4 billion.

The Dubai Ruler added, “The National Programme for Programmers is a new step to build our digital economy within our new national plans.”

“The world is changing. The shape of the economy will be different. The nature of professions will change… The speed of digital change is multiplying. Survival will be for the most prepared, fast and keep pace with the new changes in our world.”
