Global architecture, planning and design firm, CallisonRTKL (CRTKL) has announced the appointment of Egyptian Ashraf M. Fahmy, CPA as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will sit in Washington D.C. In addition to leading finance and accounting, he will serve as an integral member of the strategic mergers and acquisitions team to bolster the breadth and strength of the firm in the marketplace.

As an Egyptian national, Fahmy is particularly passionate about the firm’s presence in the Middle East and North Africa, and the active role that it plays in supporting visionary government initiatives to create smarter and happier regional communities.

CRTKL has been present in the region for over two decades and has played an important role in some of the region’s most high-profile developments. In Egypt, the firm has been involved in projects including Ras El Hekma, LEED-Gold certified mall, City Centre Almaza (CCA), and one of the largest children’s oncology centers in the world, Cairo Children’s Cancer Hospital Expansion.

“CallisonRTKL is a powerhouse in the industry,” says Ashraf. “With its global and regional presence, advanced digital infrastructure, and collaborative, team-based approach, the firm is agile and can respond quickly to any circumstance, which is an asset in the current market. The practice is an innovator in improving wellbeing and creating resilient and sustainable places through its work on many of the region’s most prestigious developments. I am excited to be part of a firm dedicated to creating healthy and happy environments across the world.”

Matthew Tribe, Executive Director at CallisonRTKL added: “Ashraf’s extensive financial experience, collaborative approach, deep regional knowledge, long term client relationships and passion will add a new dimension to the global team. It will serve to provide an even greater focus on the high profile and exciting developments planned in line with the region’s vision for economic growth and transformation. At a global level he will play a critical role in steering the firm through today’s uncertainty times.”

In a career of nearly three decades, Ashraf is best known for accelerating the growth of top global engineering and construction firms. He joins CallisonRTKL from CHA Inc. where he was Senior Vice President of Finance, responsible for evaluating and establishing systems infrastructure policies and improving efficiencies. As a member of the executive team he led mergers and acquisitions including the due diligence and integration of two major acquisitions. Prior to his time with CHA Inc. he was CFO of International Engineering and Construction for AMEC Foster Wheeler and Regional Controller for URS Corporation

Ashraf earned a Bachelor of Finance from the University of Assiut in Egypt. He is a certified public accountant and a Six Sigma Green Belt. He serves on a US board of Shelters to Shutters, which provides housing and employment to individuals who have lost jobs and are facing homelessness.
