Qatar Business & Finance Forum 2014

Qatar Business & Finance Forum 2014 kicked off in Doha on Sunday in the presence of a large number of businessmen and private sector key personalities from Qatar, Jordan, Tunisia and Palestine.
HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), said in a keynote speech which was delivered on his behalf by QCCI Member Nasser Al Meer that the State of Qatar has become the focus of attention all over the world thanks to its growing, balanced and diverse economy.
He added that the Qatari economy has achieved great successes in nearly two decades, with the support of the development of oil and gas production and the other sectors, particularly the financial and service sectors as well as the expansions of foreign investments in the five continents.
This made it one of the fastest growing economies in the world despite the negative repercussions that affected the economies of major countries, he said, noting that Qatar has become the largest exporter of LNG in the world, producing about 77 million tons per year.
The launch and expansion of several large projects in this field, in addition to other projects in the petrochemical sectors and manufacturing industries within Qatar National Vision 2030 positioned to move toward a knowledge-based economy, and to diversify the economy, have contributed to this economic growth.
He pointed out that this vision, which aims to develop the education, industry, health, tourism, the economy and other sectors adopts the policy of diversifying the income sources away from gas and fuel sectors.
2022 World Cup, hosted by Qatar, has stimulated more investment opportunities and projects related to the organization of this event, referring in this regards to the trade delegations, who are visiting Qatar to learn about the investment opportunities and the huge projects on the development of the infrastructure in preparation for the World Cup.
He said that there are appropriate investment opportunities in Qatar for the businessmen to implement future projects either alone, or in partnership with a Qatari company, inviting business owners to learn about the importance of investing in Qatar and take advantage of the safe and stable climate.
He expressed QCCI’s keenness and all the relevant authorities in Qatar to provide all the support and information on the proposed projects with the utmost transparency and clarity.
He expressed the hope that the participating countries in this forum would achieve a number of cooperation agreements and effective partnerships, build a constructive communication, strengthen and deepen trade relations and investment cooperation between businessmen in Qatar, Palestine, Jordan and Tunisia.
