Swissotel Al Ghurair has appointed Mir Shamir as the Director of Revenue, and is among the core team of the hotel, strategizing and leading the financials for the hotel and serviced hotel apartments.

Mir, a veteran of the hospitality industry for 26 years, moved from Millennium Place Barsha Heights Hotel and Apartments as the Director of Revenue where he was responsible for 917- inventory keys and spearheaded the optimization of guestroom inventory with strategic targetted promotions for high-value segments. By introducing effective pricing and yield management techniques, the hotel grew in its profitability and generated an increased revenue per room. With his efforts, the hotel achieved a 12% increase in RevPAR, and exceeded the RGI target by 3% with a growth in the ADR ranking.

Leaving a trail of an inspiring career, Mir started his career in hospitality in January 1998 as a credit supervisor with the Intercontinental group in Saudi Arabia. Starting his basics to understand the bottom-line management of the hotel’s Profit and Loss Statement, he was quickly fascinated to drive more revenue to the top-line. Early in his career he switched from a finance to a revenue role and went on to work with leading hospitality brands of Rotana, Mariott International and Grand Millenium.

He gained experience in the Gulf region – in  Jeddah, Al Jubail, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and over the years naturally gravitated towards Dubai with its exhilarating work culture and the flourishing scope of revenue management.

Known for his strategic yield management, effective channel distribution, and accurate forecasting, Mir looks forward to managing the extremely dynamic and versatile market of Deira. Adding to the complex commercial team, he will work closely with the Sales and Marketing team, lead the Revenue and Reservations team to oversee all the revenue opportunities, align strategies with business goals and deliver increased topline performance.

“We are thrilled to have Mir with us in our leadership team, and we are confident that we will continue to build our legacy of a leading a family-friendly destination while consistently growing our business scope” says Amal El Ansari, General Manager of Swissotel Al Ghurair. “His expert knowledge of the market and pragmatic business acumen, make him a valuable addition to the Swissotel family.”

With exciting projects to lead, and strong commercial expectations, Mir aims to deliver strong revenue and financial growth while bringing to life Swissotel’s promise of “Life is a Journey. Live it well.”
