The new resort from The Emerald Collection is a celebration of Tanzania’s tropical landscape and cultural heritage

Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa, by The Emerald Collection, opens its doors to guests on 1st December 2022. The property is the latest addition to the luxury hospitality group portfolio, renowned for its Deluxe All-Inclusive Formula in the Maldives.

Located on the north-east coast of the island in the Muyuni area, the new resort perches between the coastline and acres of tropical jungle directly in front of Mnemba island. Situated within 10 hectares of land sloping down towards the sea, Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa has direct access to azure waters and is surrounded by an oval reef, which has been declared a precious marine conservation area.

The only Leading Hotels of the World property in Zanzibar exclusively offers suite accommodations, with 250 suites across 7 different categories. Like all resorts in The Emerald Collection, guests at Emerald Zanzibar will experience an elevated take on an all-inclusive stay, thanks to the brand’s signature Deluxe All-Inclusive Formula, which provides guests with the fullest experience possible, no matter the suite category reserved.

In Zanzibar, guests can look forward to gourmet a la carte dining, luxury international wines, beers and spirits, access to unlimited non-motorised water sports activities, a 5-Star Diving Centre, and the Emerald Spa offering Thai and Balinese treatments. The property is also home to a spacious Sports Centre with tennis and padel courts, an indoor gym fully equipped with professional Technogym equipment, and the biggest kids club in Zanzibar.

A world of flavour awaits with four international restaurants, four bars, and even a Gelateria (Gelato shop). At the resort’s main all-day restaurant, Aqua, international cuisine is served from sunrise to sunset, while the Beach Club serves lunch on the sand for relaxed dining overlooking the Indian Ocean. From a Churrasca concept with South American fare at Carnivorous, to classic Asian dishes and live Teppanyaki cooking show at Le Asiatique Restaurant, the real luxury at Emerald Zanzibar is the variety of dining choice.

From nesting green turtles and bottlenose dolphins to schools of colourful tropical reef fish, the underwater landscape of the Indian Ocean is on the resort’s doorstep. At the 5-Star Diving Centre, trained divers will guide visitors of all abilities to get to know bannerfish, as well as anthias and powder blue tangs. Whilst parents explore the Zanzibarian environment, the Dolphin Kids Club, with its trained multilingual team, will keep little ones entertained with creative and educational activities and games, both indoors and outdoors.

“We are thrilled by the arrival of Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa. This is an essential project for The Emerald Collection, in which we have invested tens of millions of euros to build a new resort in line with the standards of excellence of the brand,” comments Aldo Scarapicchia, Partner and Managing Director of The Emerald Collection. “The property offers only suites, and is the ideal starting point for guests looking to discover an incredible natural coral reef, just as beautiful as that of the Maldives, and the natural park on Mnemba Island.”

The 5-star all-suite resort in Tanzania is the first in the collection on the African continent. It joins Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa (opened 2019) and the new Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa (opened October 2022), which are also affiliates of The Leading Hotels of the World.
