Radisson Blu Hotel Riyadh Convention and Exhibition Center continues to lead the way in sustainability within the hospitality sector by implementing a range of eco-friendly practices. These initiatives not only align with the Radisson Hotel Group’s global sustainability goals but also reflect the hotel’s dedication to reducing its environmental impact and promoting responsible business practices in Saudi Arabia.

“Sustainability is at the core of our operations at Radisson Blu Hotel Riyadh Convention and Exhibition Center,” said Shoaib Mirza, Director of Rooms and Radisson Hotel Group’s KSA Regional Responsible Business Coordinator. “We have introduced several innovative practices that significantly reduce our carbon footprint, minimize waste, and contribute to a greener future for the community we serve.”

Digital Guest Registration Cards

One of the key initiatives is the adoption of Digital Guest Registration Cards. Paper consumption is one of the biggest contributors to deforestation and environmental degradation. Traditional paper-based registration processes in hotels generate significant amounts of waste, from the production and transportation of paper to the disposal of used forms. By eliminating the need for paper, this digital practice not only reduces paper waste, printer ink usage, and maintenance costs but also makes a substantial contribution to the preservation of our forests and natural resources.

Moreover, the switch to digital RCs enhances data security, with encrypted storage and secure access, significantly limiting unauthorized access to sensitive guest information. The hotel’s collaboration with Samsotech International FZC has resulted in a seamless digital transition that reflects a forward-thinking approach to both guest experience and environmental responsibility.

Wooden Key Cards

In a move to further reduce plastic waste, the hotel has introduced wooden key cards for guest rooms, replacing the conventional plastic alternatives. These eco-friendly wooden key cards are not only free from harmful chemicals found in plastics but also boast a significantly lower carbon footprint, contributing to the reduction of pollution and environmental harm associated with plastic production and disposal.

By partnering with Pioneers of Prosperity, a leading supplier dedicated to sustainable and innovative products, the hotel ensures that every guest’s stay is not only luxurious but also environmentally responsible. Pioneers of Prosperity specializes in creating high-quality, eco-conscious materials that align with the global push towards sustainability. Their wooden key cards are crafted from responsibly sourced wood, ensuring that the environmental impact is minimized from production to end-use.

Electric Car Charging Stations

The installation of electric car charging stations at the hotel is another step towards promoting sustainable transportation. By supporting electric vehicles (EVs), the hotel contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and local air pollution, while attracting a growing number of environmentally-conscious travelers. Motevs has supplied and installed the state-of-the-art charging stations, furthering the hotel’s commitment to sustainability.

Aldert van Zyl, General Manager of Radisson Blu Hotel Riyadh Convention & Exhibition Center comments: “We are proud to be at the forefront of sustainability initiatives in the region. These efforts are not just about meeting industry standards; they are about setting new benchmarks for what responsible hospitality looks like. Our guests can enjoy their stay knowing they are contributing to a more sustainable world.”

These initiatives represent just a few of the ways Radisson Blu Hotel Riyadh Convention and Exhibition Center is making a positive impact on the environment. As the hotel continues to explore new sustainable practices, it remains dedicated to leading the industry in responsible business operations.
