Abu Dhabi authorities said that unvaccinated residents would not be allowed to access public places in the emirate.
The emergency and crisis team said the decision comes into effect on Aug.20, 2021.
The health body said after vaccinating 93 per cent of target groups in the emirate, this decision is taken to preserve public health.
All shopping malls, cafeterias, health centres, gymnasiums, educational institutions and laboratory are included in the list.
Only the vaccinated residents can visit and access these facilities.
All residents will have free access to places that sells essential goods, that is the supermarkets and pharmacies.
The authorities also said it will not apply to adults and children who have been exempted from vaccination process registered on Alhosn app.
Abu Dhabi also approved the use of unique EDE scanners to catch COVID-19 infections.
The emergency committee said that EDE scanners have been installed all across the emirate from Monday, June 28, 2021.
The EDE scanning system will be used at shopping malls, as part of testing in some residential areas, and at land and air entry points, as part of efforts to enhance precautionary measures and curb the spread of COVID-19 by establishing safe zones.
“The use of the EDE scanning system is part of this strategy and reflects the leadership’s vision in harnessing modern technology to create solutions that turn challenges into opportunities.
The EDE scanners will be used alongside other approved testing methods, such as PCR and DPI,” Dr Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Undersecretary at Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, said.
