eJaby Launches in UAE, Revolutionizing the E-commerce Marketplace Supply Chain by Addressing Overstock and Sustainability

eJaby, the innovative homegrown e-commerce marketplace, has officially launched in the UAE, marking the next major step in transforming the e-commerce market supply chain in the region. Poised to tackle overstock due to factors like shelf life or inventory surplus, as well as sustainability challenges in the UAE’s dynamic market, the eJaby platform connects consumers directly with premium-quality overstock products, creating a win-win scenario for conscious consumers, suppliers and the environment.

Cutting-Edge Technology for a Sustainable Supply Chain

eJaby leverages advanced technology to streamline the supply chain by connecting suppliers with customers who value high-quality products at exceptional value, including food, beverages and non-food products. By focusing on overstock items—products that are past the midpoint of their shelf life but still meet rigorous quality standards—eJaby provides customers with premium products that support sustainability. This approach aligns with global sustainability goals, including the UAE’s target to halve food loss and waste by 2030.

Behind the e-commerce marketplace are co-founders, Maxim Haartsen and Menna Shahin, who lead eJaby with a shared commitment to reducing waste and advancing sustainability, driving the company’s mission to deliver premium overstock products with a positive environmental impact.

“The cost of food waste, related to food service and retail combined, tops around $23 billion annually in the region alone. For volume per capita, that comes to 250kg per person each year! Our platform is designed to address inefficiencies in the traditional e-commerce marketplace supply chain,” said Maxim Haartsen, Co-Founder of eJaby. “By providing an alternative online sales channel for suppliers, we ensure a smart shopping experience, adhering to a positive lifestyle where consumers appreciate both quality and value.”

Sustainability at the Core

eJaby’s mission extends beyond just connecting suppliers and consumers. The company is deeply committed to sustainability, incorporating eco-friendly practices throughout its operations. The platform supports the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 12 (Responsible Production and Consumption) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), by minimizing the environmental impact of food waste and promoting responsible consumption.

“We see eJaby as more than just a marketplace,” added Menna Shahin, Co-Founder of eJaby. “We want our eJaby community to join us in reducing CO2 and making a positive impact on the environment. Every order placed through eJaby contributes to reducing waste and building a healthier planet. It’s a movement towards a more sustainable and efficient system.”

Expanding Reach and Impact

With its recent UAE launch, eJaby is continuing its expansion across the Middle East, with plans to enter the Saudi Arabian market by early 2025. The company’s growth reflects a broader trend towards sustainability in the region, positioning eJaby at the forefront of this critical movement.

Suppliers who partner with eJaby benefit not only from reducing their environmental footprint but also from accessing a new customer base that prioritizes premium quality and sustainable practices. Creating an e-commerce extension of the supply chain with the sole focus of selling overstock products is key to eJaby’s value proposition whilst reducing the carbon footprint at the same time. eJaby provides the best of both worlds: quality and value in every transaction made on the platform while making a positive impact on the environment.
