Tasneef wins Seatrade Maritime Excellence Award 2014

The Emirates Classification Society, Tasneef, has been honored at the annual Sea-trade Maritime Awards in Dubai, part of Dubai Maritime Week 2014, for its contribution to the Development of the Regional Maritime Sector. The awards are presented to the best practices in safety, marine environment, port operations, maintenance, security and finance, and witnessed participation from various companies, gulf, regional and global organisations associated with ports and the maritime industry.

CEO of Tasneef, Rashid Al Hebsi, expressed his happiness, saying, “I’m very proud of the recognition of Tasneef’s contribution to the growth of the maritime sector through these prestigious awards, this is a reflection of hard work and dedication in serving our customers which is what our employees focus on every single day”. He pointed out that this success confirms the strategic role played Tasneef in strengthening the UAE’s pivotal position as a leading global maritime centre, with a focus on the latest developments in the sector.

Al Hebsi added that the classification society attaches great importance to supporting the maritime economy in the UAE through the provision of maritime consulting services, classification of marine vessels, leasing projects, raising the efficiency and specifications of vessels, and finally ensuring that both national and international companies adhere to and comply with these specifications to open new horizons for national engineers in the UAE to work in the maritime sector.

Tasneef’s priorities include preserving marine life and property, the protection of marine environment through the issuance of standards and metrics and their implementation, issuance of mandatory certificates, intensifying efforts to spread the necessary awareness which results in increasing the ships’ security level. Tasneef also provides its services for all, empowered by its specialised team of experts for the benefit of the UAE and the region.

Al Hebsi also said that, “Receiving the Contribution to the Development of the Regional Maritime Sector award not only places Tasneef in the leadership of these areas but, it also encourages us to continue to improve areas that are vital to the UAE economy. In addition to that, the classification society strives to use state of the art technology in its operations; and has worked to adopt many of the training programs in order to provide global high-quality maritime services, as well as follow the occupational health and safety procedures in all operations.” Seatrade awards those who made great achievements in the implementation of high standards and quality in maritime sectors. The programme is designed to celebrate and honour excellence and innovation across the region that has been achieved over the past 12 months.
