The National Bank of Abu Dhabi PJSC has appointed Suvrat Saigal as Managing Director and Head of Global Retail.

Saigal will lead NBAD’s retail growth strategy in the UAE and promote its global footprint as part of NBAD’s strategy.

“Retail banking is one of the key sectors that align to NBAD’s strategy, which aims to reach the growing economies and provide our clients with integrated world-class banking services,” says Abdulla Al Otaiba, Senior Managing Director and Group Head – Global Retail and Commercial Banking.

“With his extensive international experience and deep understanding of retail banking, Suvrat Saigal is a valuable addition to our team. His role to lead the global retail segment is an important part of NBAD’s strategy to further develop and expand its service to the sector and be core to our chosen customers,” Al Otaiba added.

Saigal brings with him 24 years of international retail banking experience gained from serving in several financial institutions in Australia, Singapore, USA and Japan. He joins NBAD from Barclays, where he served as head of consumer banking in India. At Barclays, he was responsible for developing and executing the turnaround strategy for retail and converted it into a profitable business. Prior to this, he served in Citibank for 20 years, where he held various senior positions in international markets. In his last role, he served as head of strategy, marketing and customer experience in Australia.

Saigal said, “With an ambitious goal to ‘be recognised as the World’s Best Arab Bank’, NBAD is embarking on a journey that will deliver exciting and innovative change. Our aspiration is to provide our customers with world-class products and service. I look forward to making NBAD the ‘go-to’ retail bank in the region.”
