The event features a wide international participation comprising elite global experts of project management field; which is the backbone of development strategies, and a key pillar of modern management science that has considerable bearing on drawing up the outlines and parameters ensuring the success of development efforts in various fields.

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, welcomed the participants and attendees of the Dubai International Project Management Forum, saying: “When you visit Dubai, you will notice signs of topnotch infrastructure, economic growth, services of the highest standards, and a multitude of quality projects which attracted global attention, such as Burj Khalifa, Dubai Metro, Dubai International Airport, Palm Jumeirah, and a lot others through which Dubai aims for the satisfaction and wellbeing of its residents.” This Forum, he says, comes as a direct result of the effective cooperation between the RTA, DEWA, Emaar Properties, and the Project Management Institute (PMI).

“This initiative is taken in the context of the keenness of Dubai to play a pivotal role in leading the development drive in the region and identify the ingredients capable of accelerating the pace of this drive in the light of sound scientific basis, and the highest global standards and practices. This could well be achieved through attracting top experts and highly qualified specialists with a broad international repute to international events that can be utilized as effective knowledge transfer platforms. Moreover, Dubai is keen to act as a communication channel contributing to the sharing of expertise, concepts and visions between gurus of different industries spanning a variety of fields in keeping with its billing as a city of an Arab affiliation and global orientation,” continued Al Tayer.

“The Forum focuses on the core role of projects in managing and streamlining the business of government and private entities. It applies the concepts of Project Management as a new approach in managing organizations to achieve their vision and objectives, both at the strategic or operational levels. This can be achieved through applying multi-level project management system covering the mechanisms of project portfolio management for selecting the most appropriate projects to achieve strategic objectives, management of programs to ensure the integration and coordination between different projects to achieve the common objectives of such projects, and methods of project management adopted to ensure completion in accordance with the approved plan, on a timely manner, and within the budget allocated,” he added.

Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties, said: “Dubai has become a focal point for the entire world, thanks to its cutting-edge achievements in developing unprecedented landmark projects based on top quality and excellence standards of project management. Emaar has a wealth of experience in this field which is epitomised in developing mega global projects such as Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall.

“In this regard, it is our honour to team up with RTA, DEWA, and PMI in hosting the Dubai International Project Management Forum, and we are confident that this key event will have a vital contribution in showcasing the solid standing of Dubai as a leading international hub for project management,” continued Alabbar.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, said: “The staging of this forum and our effective engagement in the event is part of our endeavours to materialize the aspirations of our prudent leadership in fostering international events capable of boosting the profile and image of Dubai internationally, and showcasing the achievements made in project management. It also echoes the achievements made by Dubai in planning and constructing massive infrastructure projects as well as service & real estate projects. Therefore, DEWA has been keen on participating in staging this Forum by providing all necessary support to the RTA to ensure that the Forum is held in a manner befitting the status of Dubai.

“The importance of this Forum stems from the fact it discusses the world-best practices in project management, where Dubai Electricity and Water Authority will practically and effectively participate in the forum by showcasing its successful expertise and experiences in all parts of the forum in the form of panel discussions and workshops. In addition, an elite bunch of experts from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority will review some working papers on project management and the world-best practices in project management applicable in Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, which are internationally-acclaimed in many international occasions,” he added.

Just six years away, Expo 2020, like those that went before it, will be a catalyst for economic, social and cultural transformation.
