Rabanne Hybrid Age: Where Versatility Meets Individuality

In the Hybrid Age collection, Rabanne twists influences and inspirations to create versatile pieces that embrace freedom and self-expression

Within a wardrobe where textures, shapes and colours are recombined intuitively, new ideas emerge. For the Pre-Fall and Beach collections, looks appear at once familiar and unexpected, twisting influences and inspirations. Experimentation is a form of liberty: open and never forced. From creating to wearing, versatility meets individuality.

Pre-Fall explores a hybridized attitude of sophistication and cool. Key looks span Western detailing on a vintage-inspired suede coat; a vaguely Victorian printed dress in a relaxed register; a tailored jacket over a swirling paillette top; chainmail adorning a knit dress cascading from the shoulders and draped as a low-slung skirt; delicate embroidered under-layers peeking out from collars and skirt hems; an oversized maroon lacquered leather aviator jacket atop a tulle skirt embroidered with enchanted flowers; the ease of a long sweater dress fitted then flowing – worn with western boots and a 1969 bag composed of shearling discs.

Small details read like secret feminine codes: from a tiny silver bow at the waist of a cinched, satiny ensemble to sky blue jersey studded with starry motifs. The belt buckle from SS26 returns; now more exaggerated and daring, the waist highly defined.

Beach looks hybridized through silhouettes and surface treatments. Throwback ’70s graphic stripes mix with synthetic florals; beaded fringes and rippling embellishments transform lingerie dresses into glamorous statements; a blousy bandeau and pencil skirt or a shirt knotted at the front put a fresh twist on the’ 50s vibe of SS26. Silver sequin ballerines, chunky flip-flops and body jewellery add a contemporary touch.

The latest bags build upon the signatures: a 1969 baguette shape and the Ring re-edited as both an XL tote and a mini handbag. Chocolate brown woven raffia and metal converge as a compact bucket style.

Accentuating the season’s hybrid state are artist Kohei Ohmori’s signature grisaille pencil drawings – simultaneously hyper-realistic and Pop – that surface from T-shirts and chainmail.

Across both collections are pieces that feel direct yet imbued with character. Leather-framed sunglasses reimagined from the archives are the ultimate hybrid: an object from the past with vision to the future.
