World Travel Market,

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, has announced its participation at the World Travel Market, for the twelfth consecutive year in London from November 3 to 6, 2014.

This premier exhibition and annual summit brings together market leaders, public and private sector stakeholders representing travel, leisure and hospitality sectors from across the globe. The WTM is recognised as the leading travel industry exhibition with more than ? 2.2 billion GBP of business being done annually over the four days of the event.

Led by Mohamed Ali Al Noman, Chairman, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the Sharjah delegation to WTM 2014 includes representation from the main stakeholders of the tourism industry in Sharjah including Sharjah International Airport Authority, Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas (EPAA), Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Coral Beach Resort Sharjah, Sharjah Museums Department and Universal Travels & Tourism.

Al Noman said that the World Travel Market is widely recognised as the leading travel and tourism exhibition in the world.

The event is always well attended and attracts a strong presence from senior policymakers, tourism investors and representatives of major travel and leisure companies.

” This is the perfect platform and opportunity to showcase Sharjah in all its diversity, especially as it is the natural introduction to Sharjah Capital of Arab Tourism for 2015. The WTM always provides an excellent opportunity to connect with other international destinations and tourism companies to exchange experiences and to do business from,” said Al Noman.

This year is a particularly exciting year for Sharjah as the delegation prepares to launch Sharjah as the Tourism Capital of the Arab world in the World Travel Market. This year the 330-square metre Sharjah pavilion showcases the best of Sharjah’s tourism, including its heritage, festivals and tourist attractions at the International Exhibition Centre, ExCel, in London. The Sharjah stand aims to portray a glimpse of life in the Emirate and highlight the unique opportunities that it offers international markets looking for a new destination for business or pleasure.

London is providing Sharjah the perfect opportunity to launch its new Interactive Touchscreen giving visitors access to a greater variety of information, specifically customised to their requests. This is supplemented by a range of SCTDA publications, magazines and mini guides in both English and Arabic, helping them to gain additional insights into Sharjah. Supplementing the new portal Sharjah will also be launching its new tourism portal giving more world wide access to the very best of Sharjah than ever before.

A formal announcement about the Capital of Arab Tourism Award 2015 will be made by the SCTDA Chairman at a press conference on the second day of the exhibition.

The press conference will be used to highlight Sharjah’s new status as Tourism Capital. Speaking about the upcoming London exhibition, the SCTDA Chairman Al Noman said that the emirate’s participation at WTM London this year will be truly outstanding reflecting the high level of trust that has been placed on the Emirate of Sharjah by the Arab Tourism Organisation in awarding Sharjah “Capital” status for 2015.

The Emirate of Sharjah was awarded the Capital of Arab Tourism Award for 2015 at the 15th session of The Arab Council of Tourism ministers in Cairo.
