Qatar Petroleum Promotes Healthy Lifestyle at Workers Welfare and Well-being Forum

Qatar Petroleum’s Industrial Cities Directorate recently held its biannual Workers’ Welfare and Well-being Forum at the Ras Laffan Emergency & Safety College in Ras Laffan Industrial City.
Organized by the Health & Hygiene Division of the directorate’s HSE Department in collaboration with QP’s Medical Services Department, the event was held with the theme “Go Healthy, Go Productive,” thus highlighting the benefits of a healthy lifestyle on both personal and professional levels, a Qatar Petroleum press release said.
The forum featured several presentations by HSE professionals and medical experts from QP, the Barzan Gas Project and Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd. (Nakilat).
It also had workshops focusing on various health and well-being topics including the body mass index, stress control, and advice on proper diet and physical activities.
The workshops were a blend of discussions, Q&A sessions, tests and personal evaluation, thus providing the participants with a quick assessment of their physical and mental state, two things that are intimately linked.
The promotion of a healthy lifestyle among all employees and workers was an opportunity for the HSE experts at the forum to highlight the positive effects of good health and well-being on workplace safety and productivity.
QP Industrial Cities operates the industrial cities of Ras Laffan and Mesaieed, which concentrate a sizable part of the economic activity in Qatar. The mission of the directorate includes the implementation of the highest HSE standards among all business operators within the industrial cities, which include major oil & gas industries, petrochemical companies, suppliers and contractors.
Workers’ rights and well-being are at the core of the strategies of QP for achieving sustainable development, in line with the guidelines set by the Qatar National Vision 2030.
This includes a careful implementation of all state regulations related to workers’ wellbeing, workplace safety, accommodation, food regulations and health care, for the achievement of excellence in occupational health.
