the Next 30 Years”

–Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the 17th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC 2014) will kick off from 10 to 13 of November.

This year ADIPEC marks its 30th anniversary with the sponsorship of the UAE Ministry of Energy, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and the Abu Dhabi Chamber.

Mr Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi, the ADIPEC 2014 Chairman, and Strategy & Coordination Director – ADNOC, said: “As we mark ADIPEC’s 30th anniversary, we have grown from a small exhibition in an emerging energy producer, to one of the world’s top three energy exhibitions. With Abu Dhabi now one of the world’s leading oil and gas producers, we are dedicated to supporting the next generation of leaders and technologies, driving the UAE further forward to become an innovation hub for energy, and securing the world’s energy supplies for the next 30 years and beyond.”

The Middle East will drive global energy security for the next 30 years, experts set to attend the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) announced today.

Anticipating global energy consumption slated to rise 41 percent from 2012 to 2035, according to BP’s “Energy Outlook 2035” report, ADIPEC 2014 expects to welcome more than 60,000 visitors – global energy leaders, policy makers, innovators, technicians, and scholars – to drill into the show’s theme “Challenges and Opportunities for the Next 30 Years”.

Abu Dhabi as Global Platform for Energy

Serving as a global platform, the Emirate of Abu Dhabi hosts more than 90 percent of the UAE’s oil reserves. According to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the UAE is the world’s second-largest exporter of petroleum products by value, worth USD 118.08 billion in 2012.

ADNOC, the show’s main sponsor, is one of the world’s top 10 oil and gas companies, producing more than 2.7 million barrels per day. Boosting energy production capacity and the UAE economy, ADNOC is set to complete a USD 40 billion investment in crude, natural gas, petrochemical, and refinery projects in 2014.

As a result, the UAE is slated to more than triple crude oil production from 30 years ago. In 1984, the UAE produced 1.1 million barrels per day, according to OPEC, while ADNOC projects to increase production to 3.5 million barrels per day by 2017.

In line with the energy production increase, Abu Dhabi’s real GDP from oil is slated to more than triple, from USD 45.6 billion in 2005 to USD 149.7 billion in 2035, according to the economic sustainability plan Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.

ADIPEC 2014’s New and Enhanced Features

Enhancing the wider Middle East region’s energy business ties with the UAE, ADIPEC 2014 will sponsor a regional roadshow promotional campaigncovering 10 countries. ADIPEC 2013 generated USD 5 billion in business, with 39 percent of visitors coming for networking opportunities.

ADIPEC 2014’s organisers, dmg events, expect an increase over ADIPEC 2013’s record of more than 51,000 visitors, along with 1,362 exhibitors from 108 countries, including 16 country pavilions. In response, ADIPEC 2014 will expand from 35,000 square metres in 2013 to 40,000 square metres of exhibition space at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

Mr Christopher Hudson, Senior Vice President, dmg events, said: “To celebrate ADIPEC’s 30th anniversary, ADIPEC 2014 will be the largest and most engaging edition of ADIPEC yet. We’re building on the success of the ADIPEC 2013 Conference – which saw the debut of Young ADIPEC and Women in Industry to connect the industry with tomorrow’s leaders -and we’re providing more interactive features and activities.”

Driving Dialogue on the Energy Industry

The ADIPEC 2014 will be a key driver in addressing the show’s theme “Challenges and Opportunities for the Next 30 Years”. Organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the ADIPEC 2014 Technical Conference will continue the momentum of the 2013 edition, which witnessed the participation of 300 leading speakers from 34 countries.

Billed as the premier speaking platform in the Middle East and North Africa, the ADIPEC 2014 Technical Conference, will feature new insights on nine key industry topics: Exploration &Production geoscience, unconventional resources, field development, drilling and completion technology, projects engineering and management, operational excellence, HSE, gas technology, and people and talents.

Enhanced Show Sectors

Young ADIPECgenerates interest and excitement for the next generation of oil and gas industry employees, with school children and university students taking part in field trips, projects, and experiencing a day-in-the-life of the industry at the Young ADIPEC Zone. Women in Industrywill feature panel sessions from leading women in the energy field, encouraging women to enter a variety of energy-related careers.

The2014 ADIPEC Awardswill recognise best practices across the energy field, with entries open from 1 May 2014 to 1 August 2014. Organisers expect the ADIPEC Awards 2014 to surpass the 2013 ADIPEC Awards, which received290 entries from 22 countries and 79 organisations.

Connecting the industry’s top managers with peers, friends, and colleagues, the Middle East Petroleum Club strengthens networks that exist between oil and gas executives across the region, and forge new connections, in a private setting.  Meanwhile, the HSE Zonereturns for a second year, bringing together the health, safety and environment sector of the oil and gas industry, featuring exhibitors, open conference sessions, and supported by an array of sponsors.
