Kahramaa Holds Annual Planning Forum

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) held recently the Annual Planning Forum to discuss the plans of the different department for 2015-2019.
President of Kahramaa Eng. Issa bin Helal Al Kuwari chaired the two-day meeting, held under the slogan “Strategic Transformation towards Business Excellence”.
Managers and heads of departments at Kahramaa attended the Forum to discuss plans and projects of the departments over the next five years, and a review the performance levels over the past year, Kahramaa said in a press release today.
Kahramaa stressed the importance of the Forum in creating a roadmap to meet the challenges of electricity and water sectors and Customer Services through strategic transformation towards business excellence.
In an opening speech, Kahramaa President said that the Forum is being held amid several challenges facing the electricity and water sectors, and thus, Kahramaa must be in full readiness to turn these challenges into opportunities through a long-term strategic planning in order to reach the goals that have been set in Qatar Vision 2030.
He noted that the slogan of the Forum this year reflects Kahramaa determination to improve the strategic management, which is currently in the second phase.
The strategic development in Kahramaa has started in the beginning of 2014 by adopting the proposed update of the message and the vision and institutional values, and developing the general strategies and objectives which Kahramaa aspires to achieve over the next five years, and a long-term roadmap until 2030.
According to Kahramaa statement, the most important characteristic of the 2015-2019 plan is starting the giant water tanks project, which will enhance the strategic reserves of water in the state, as well as starting the 12th phase of a project to strengthen and expand the electricity networks. The plan also includes smart services for the customers by the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016.
The year 2015 will also witness the the construction of the first solar power generation plant within Kahramaa facilities, followed by other solar energy plants, in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision which aims at maintaining the traditional resources while preserving the environment, the statement added.
Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) was established in July 2000 as the sole transmission and distribution system owner and operator (TDSOO) for the electricity and water sector in the state.
