HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohamed bin Saleh Al-Sada, who is also Board Chairman of Qatar Petroleum will preside tomorrow over an official announcement ceremony of winners of the oil and gas sector awards for 2013, which aims at honouring the companies that are implementing advanced programmes and initiatives to achieve excellence in the management of a range of risks in the field of occupational health and safety, as well as environmental impacts in their daily operations.
Awards of Health, Safety and the Environment (SHE) were launched in 2010 under the supervision of the Central Department of Health, Safety and Environment at Qatar Petroleum for the disseminating a positive culture and promoting awareness of health, safety and the environment aspects within the departments of Qatar Petroleum, joint venture companies and contractors.
These awards are gaining their value as they foster awareness of health, safety and the environment among the workers in this sector, and the continuation in improving the performance of companies in the areas of health, safety and the environment. Additionally they also aim to ensure the nun-occurrence of any default or violation in companies’ operations regarding the safety of their employees and the local community or a negative impact on the environment.
At the honouring ceremony, HE the Minister of Energy and Industry will distribute excellence certificates to 10 winners from Qatar Petroleum operations, joint venture companies and contractors who will be divided into gold, silver and bronze categories.
