Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has organised the Business Excellence Conference 2014 under the theme “Sustainable Excellence”.

The conference underlines DEWA’s commitment to promote business excellence, and supports its vision to become a sustainable world-class utility. A number of excellence leaders in the government and private sectors from the U.A.E. and abroad participated in the conference which was held at the Intercontinental Hotel Dubai Festival City.

More than 400 DEWA’s employees, representatives from government and private organisations in Dubai, in addition to DEWA’s partners, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders attended the conference.

“Organising the Business Excellence Conference is in line with the vision and directions of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which outline the roadmap that guides our work, initiatives, and developmental projects to achieve the Dubai Strategic Plan 2020, which aims to enhance the leading position of Dubai at the regional level as well as its competitiveness at the global level. It supports the National Agenda, and the U.A.E. Vision 2021, which aims to transform the U.A.E. into one of the best countries in the world by 2021,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, in his keynote speech.

“The event also underlines the position and competitiveness of Dubai as a global hub for trade, finance, tourism, and sustainability. Dubai is continuing its success and growth to become the smartest city in the world, provide the best government services, and adopt and export the best international practices,” he continued.

“Organising the conference underscores DEWA’s commitment to enhance the foundations of sustainable excellence and its practices by providing a positive work environment that enhances personal and institutional efficiency through adopting the best international practices in all our operations, exchanging the best practices, and promoting the culture of business excellence among DEWA’s staff, partners, suppliers, contractors and other stake holders.

Through this, we encourage them to effectively participate in the sustainable excellence of DEWA as we aim to institutionalise the culture of excellence in the government sector through continuous development, and by adopting business excellence criteria in all our operations across all organisational levels,” added Al Tayer.

“We are proud of DEWA’s achievements and successes at different levels, and the numerous awards it has received. These achievements are the results of the efforts of our talented staff who employ innovation and creativity in their daily tasks to further enhance performance, efficiency, and services to the highest levels, not only at the national and regional levels, but at the global level as well. DEWA has become a role model in efficiency, performance, and excellent services. This conference is a new focal point from which we move to advanced stages of creativity and leadership,” he concluded.
