ADMA-OPCO starts oil production from Abu Dhabi’s offshore Umm Lulu field

The Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company, ADMA-OPCO, commissioned its Umm Lulu Phase-1 facilities and produced its first oil from the Umm Lulu Field on 2nd October 2014. The first well flowed at 5000 BOPD and joined the offshore production system.

A significant step in achieving Abu Dhabi Oil production goals, ADMA-OPCO plans to add 270,000 barrels per day capacity by developing 3 new fields offshore and Umm Lulu field will contribute 105,000 barrels per day to this goal progressively. Umm Lulu Phase-I project adds 22,000 barrels per day by end of 2015 and the rest will be added by full field development in 2018.

The Phase-1 development includes two new wellhead towers to host 10 new wells, powered by solar energy, subsea pipelines, fibre optic cables for data transfer and a flexible pipeline for water disposal. The oil is produced through ZADCO’s facilities at Umm Al-Dalkh and Zirku Island.

This is also the first time for ADMA-OPCO that its oil will be processed by another operator and is a demonstration of the continued collaboration between the ADNOC Group of Companies.

The full field development includes six new wellhead towers to host 78 new wells, sub-sea pipelines carrying oil, water and gas, an offshore Super-complex consisting of multiple processing platforms and central control by data transfer through fibre optic cable as per the latest smart fields technology.

This was awarded on a lump sum basis under two separate contracts known as Package 1 to NPCC, and Package 2 to the joint venture of NPCC/Technip. These are currently under various phases of design and construction and are planned to be installed progressively from 2015 to early 2018. The Facilities are expected to be operational in 2018.

The EPC contract for Umm Lulu Phase-I facilities was awarded to Mssrs. Larsen and Toubro, India, in July 2011. The production facilities were fabricated in Sohar, Oman and successfully transported to Umm Lulu field for installation in early 2014.

The development of Umm Lulu field over the next few years will strengthen the long-term future of ADMA-OPCO and is a further demonstration of ADMA-OPCO’s commitment to its shareholders.
