His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, has announced the launch of King Salman Gate, a landmark mixed-use development in the heart of Makkah, adjacent to the Grand Mosque (Al-Masjid Al-Haram).

Spanning a gross floor area of 12 million square metres, King Salman Gate is set to become a global benchmark in modern city planning and integrated urban development. The project represents a major milestone in the evolution of Makkah’s central area, furthering its role as a spiritual, cultural and economic destination.

The development, being led by RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, a Public Investment Fund (PIF) entity, aligns closely with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, particularly the goals of the Pilgrim Experience Program — by enhancing infrastructure, services, and accessibility for pilgrims and visitors from around the world.

Strategically located beside the Grand Mosque, the project will accommodate approximately 900,000 worshippers across indoor and outdoor prayer spaces, while offering a rich blend of residential, hospitality, commercial, and cultural experiences. The design prioritises comfort and ease of access, with seamless integration into public transport networks, enhancing the overall journey for residents and pilgrims alike.

The project also places a strong emphasis on preserving and restoring Makkah’s cultural heritage, with plans to rehabilitate around 19,000 square metres of historic sites, thereby honouring the city’s unique identity and architectural legacy.

King Salman Gate will contribute significantly to economic growth, aiming to generate over 300,000 jobs by 2036, while embodying principles of sustainability and innovation in resource management.

“King Salman Gate is more than an urban development; it is a symbol of Makkah’s future — blending tradition with transformation,” RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company said in a statement. “The project will enhance the spiritual and cultural journey of every visitor, while supporting sustainable urban growth in one of the world’s most sacred cities.”

As part of its commitment to excellence, RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company is implementing global best practices in real estate development, ensuring the project positively impacts the lives of residents, visitors, and future generations.
