dubai exportsDubai Exports, the export promotion agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai, is participating in the Project Qatar exhibition for the fifth year in a row, along with over 60 UAE companies specialised in construction and related products and services. The exhibition is held in Doha from the 4th to 7th of May 2015.

Through participating in the exhibition, Dubai Exports aims to optimise export opportunities for local companies while also enhancing UAE’s bilateral trade with Qatar and other Gulf States. The exhibition brings together businessmen and key decision-makers in the projects and construction sectors from all over the world along with buyers and suppliers of varied equipment and sectors.

Mohammed Ali Al Kamali, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Exports, said, “We are pleased to participate in Project Qatar for the fifth year in a row and reaffirm our continued support for UAE companies in in exporting their expertise in the field of construction and related sectors, specifically to Qatar where we see a vast potential and opportunities.”

Al Kamali added: “Qatar is one of our main trade partners in the Gulf region and they are going ahead with vital infrastructure development projects. At least 20 major projects are currently under way in Qatar and 87% of the works on them will be completed in the coming years. Companies in the UAE have excellent opportunities in these projects to supply varied equipment and services, notably those in the infrastructure and green building domains.”

Kamali pointed out that bilateral trade between Dubai and Qatar was AED 15 billion in 2014, an increase of 23% compared to the year 2013. Exports and re- exports accounted for AED 11 billion, up six per cent from 2013.

“Dubai Exports has been working across various levels to promote exports from Dubai and a key element of our efforts is to enable local companies to connect with potential buyers and partners in international exhibitions and similar forums in target markets. We are proud of what our local companies have achieved through participating in Project Qatar in the previous years, most notably in terms of deals concluded between companies from both sides and UAE firms opening their representative offices in Qatar,” Al Kamali added.

Al Kamali said that Emirati companies are keen to participate in Project Qatar on a regular basis. “Project Qatar 2015 will help identify opportunities not only in Qatar but also in various sectors in the GCC, and help establish partnerships that would be beneficial to Dubai, which is a preferred business hub for the region on account of its competitiveness and geography.”

Project Qatar is one of the most important construction industry events regionally and globally as it provides a unique business networking platform and access to international companies.
