Omrania has delivered the KAFD Fire Station, an innovative, LEED Platinum v4-certified facility that redefines emergency response design

Omrania, part of the Egis Group, is proud to announce the successful completion of the KAFD Fire Station, a state-of-the-art facility that will soon be operational in the heart of the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD). This LEED Platinum landmark project is a unique, forward-thinking, and highly efficient building that sets a new standard for fire station design, integrating sustainability, functionality, and health-conscious elements.

As a vital component of the KAFD development, this fire station is an essential emergency response facility and a model of innovation and sustainability. KAFD Fire Station is the first LEED Platinum v4-certified fire station in the world, setting new standards in emergency response infrastructure and energy efficiency. Designed with advanced safety systems, cutting-edge technologies, and a louvered glass façade illuminated by matrix LED lights, the facility is optimized for climate-conscious operations while enhancing firefighting capacity and public safety within the district.

Marwan Bsaibes, Managing Principal at Omrania, emphasized the significance of this project, stating: “The completion of the KAFD Fire Station marks a milestone in sustainable and functional design. This project is a testament to Omrania’s commitment to delivering innovative and high-quality architecture that enhances the built environment while prioritizing the well-being of its users.”

The station’s curved elevation plays a key role in its architectural identity, making it a visually striking landmark at its prominent corner location. The dynamic facade screen creates a captivating interplay of light and shadow, functioning both as a public artwork and an integral part of the building’s expression. This carefully considered element ensures that the fire station integrates seamlessly with the urban fabric of KAFD while standing out as a distinguished architectural statement.

The two-level structure has been meticulously designed with operational efficiency in mind. As a fire station within a high-rise district, particular attention has been given to the roof design, often referred to as the fifth elevation. The green roof and photovoltaic panels enhance sustainability and reduce the visual impact of mechanical equipment, creating a clean, organized appearance that aligns with the overall aesthetic of the district.

Inside, the facility has been designed with a focus on occupant well-being. A minimalist yet robust interior aesthetic complements the operational needs of firefighters while ensuring long-term durability. Recognizing the intensive nature of firefighting, the station includes dedicated wellness and relaxation spaces, such as a gym, lounges, and a central courtyard.

With its cutting-edge architectural approach and commitment to sustainability, the KAFD Fire Station is more than just an emergency facility—it is a beacon of excellence in modern fire station design. As it prepares for operational readiness, it stands as a testament to Omrania’s dedication to creating high-quality, sustainable, and efficient built environments that meet both present and future needs.
