Speaking at inauguration ceremony, HE Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani said Al Furjan Markets project was an implementation to the directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. These directives are closely followed-up by HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al- Thani. The project is a result of hard work and close cooperation between several stakeholders in the state, he added.

HE the Minister of Economy said the project seeks to provide basic needs and services, to promote the growth of the commercial sector, to contribute effectively to the economic growth in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, and to create an economic and sustainable environment.

HE Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Khalifa Al-Thani said that the project is considered as one of pioneering strategic economic projects that aim to promote the growth of the commercial and private sector, adding that the first and second phases of the project were completed and the third one is now underway.

HE the Minister indicated that the third phase includes 70 commercial markets, including 20 commercial sites, in addition to 50 other proposed sites, saying there is a coordination between all service departments, including the Department of Roads.
He noted that the allocation of Al Furjan Markets Project’s sites in the third phase will be completed within four to five months.

HE Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani praised the role and the pioneering initiative of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, which targeted Qatar’s economy in general and Qatari citizens in particular in order to achieve strategic objectives at development and growth levels in all sectors and in residential areas.
