When it comes to working, renewing, or repairing a roof, an AWP has a clear advantage. The more ambitious the project is, the more appropriate it must be. For replacing the previous lighting with new technology in a large roof structure of a modern and architecturally sophisticated building, special equipment is required: JLG’s new 33-meter crawler boom. A professional solution for a convincing result.
An extremely challenging task.
The unique construction of the building requires the greatest possible lateral range of a work platform best suited for this. Also, the stowed height had to be below 2.20 m, and the ground pressure inside the building was minimal. Lastly, visitors should not be aware of the work going on behind the scenes
To guarantee all requirements were met, the choice fell on a JLG X33J Plus, new in the product portfolio. Rented by Concept-B GmbH and delivered by the brother’s Martin and Benjamin Biberger, System Lift partners from Schierling near Regensburg.

Compact with Special Features.
The compact machine, which is used for working on the roof, is essential. The X33J Plus, includes a working height of almost 33 m platform height of 30.48 m, an impressive horizontal reach of 16 m at an up and over the height of 17.20 m, and the extendable jib near the platform. The design allows even difficult tasks in areas that are difficult to reach. The four-section lower boom can be raised to almost 90 degrees. The upper boom, with a three-section telescope and a jib that can rotate 180 degrees, allows for maximum flexibility. With less than eight tons of weight, non-marking crawler tracks, and a patented basket decoupling system, the 33-meter compact crawler is unique. When the platform is removed, the X33J Plus length is less than 5.80 m, and its width is less than 1.20 m.
This fits the highly maneuverable and remote-controlled compact crawler even through narrow passages and in narrow spaces. Automatic stabilisers deliver additional stability on-site, while the footprint can be reduced to save space.
Added to this is the load capacity of the platform of 230 kg unrestricted load capacity, which allows more materials to be transported to the work area. This is also a plus in safety and productivity – the full load applies to the entire work envelope. It is not surprising that Biberger’s X33J Plus is the most versatile AWP in its fleet.
They appreciate the usability and smooth operation of the machine. “The project will last several months, “says Martin Biberger,” and various JLG compact crawlers are in use. Mainly the JLG X20, X26, and the -obviously- the X33J Plus.

Already since its first use in Germany, the JLG X33J Plus was perfect. The lighting technology could easily be replaced, and thanks to the versatility, this compact crawler saved us a lot of time and money.
