Al Furjan Markets Project

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce is now accepting applications from traders who wish to participate in the electronic raffle draw that will award retail space in the Al Furjan Markets. Raffle entries will be accepted from Sunday 11 May until 8pm on Sunday 25 May. Applicants are required to register at aswaq.mec.gov.qa The winning numbers of the Al Furjan Markets draw will be selected at random by an electronic system during a live public event in the presence of a representative from the Consumer Protection Department, as well as the media. The results of the draw will also be published on the Ministry of Economy and Commerce website.
The Al Furjan Markets project will consist of 44 markets comprising a total of 645 shops offering 28 commercial activities including supermarkets, hypermarkets, specialist food outlets and delicatessens, hairdressers and barber shops, laundry and plumbing facilities, shoes and clothing stores, toy stores, cafes, florists, chocolatiers, electronic and printing stores, and post offices.
Established in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, the Ministry of Finance, Qatar Chamber and Qatar Development Bank, the Al Furjan Markets will revitalise trade in various communities around Qatar while catering to the needs of local residents. Ultimately, the new developments will alleviate traffic congestions in downtown Doha by reducing the need for residents who live remotely to make unnecessary trips.
The Al Furjan Markets project will be established in Doha in the areas of Al Rayyan and Al Dhaayin. Outside the capital, the areas of Qatifa, Hezm Al Markhiyah, Al Eb, Jariayan, Nojaima, Rawdhat Al Hamam, Rawat Al Kadeem, Al Thumaid, Al Miiad and Om Al Saneem will also be included in the project.
