As part of the ‘Manama Entrepreneurship & Empowerment Week’, Startup Bahrain held it’s 7th Startup Mornings in partnership with Tamkeen, Zain Bahrain and Bahrain Development Bank and in collaboration with Creo Innovative Solutions.

This event’s guest speaker was no other than Mohammed Jaffar (right), the highly successful entrepreneur from Kuwait who recently sold Talabat, the local delivery service mobile app, to the German company Rocket Internet for a whopping $165 million, the highest from the region.

During the event, which was attended by 50+ entrepreneurs, businessmen/women, students, and representatives from many organisations, Mohammed shared the story behind his recent exit strategy and success. Bahraini entrepreneurs got an insider’s view on how Talabat started in Kuwait and grew all across the Arab world from 200 orders a day to tens of thousands.

Startup Mornings is a free-to-attend, casual monthly get together for startups and entrepreneurs aiming to host the exchange of ideas, inspiring of others, and the recounting of failures.

“We’ve come a long way.” tells us Ahmed Al Sawafiri, the founder of Startup Mornings and Startup Bahrain.

“Our goal is to inspire. Inspire entrepreneurs by the successes around them, inspire students to pursue a path of entrepreneurship, and inspire successful entrepreneurs to aim bigger. And in today’s event, Mohammed hit on all three. We couldn’t be happier to have him engage in lively discussion with Startup Morning’s audience.”

Startup Bahrain has also partnered up with Uber, the highly successful private driver startup from California. In part of this recent partnership, Uber Bahrain offered two free rides to all of Startup Mornings’ attendees from and to the event this Saturday.
