NBAD renews sponsorship of Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), has renewed a multi-year agreement to be the Official Bank of the FORMULA 1 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX.

NBAD has been the Official Bank of this F1 event since the 2009 FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX “Renewing our relationship with the FORMULA 1 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX confirms NBAD’s commitment to Abu Dhabi’s strategic objective to be a global hub of commerce, business, and culture,” said Alex Thursby, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NBAD. “Hosting a Formula 1 event has helped immensely in raising Abu Dhabi’s profile globally.” Thursby continued, “Our support for this sporting event aligns to NBAD’s strategic objective to be the primary financial institution facilitating increasing trade and investment flows from west of Africa to East Asia, the span that we call the West-East Corridor.” NBAD has been ranked one of the World’s 50 Safest Banks by Global Finance since 2009 and is currently ranked the Safest Bank in the Emerging Markets and Middle East. It has the widest international network, stretching to 18 countries, across 5 continents from the Far East to America.

This partnership aligns with NBAD’s growth strategy to capitalise on the growing economies and markets that stretch from West of Africa to East of Asia. The Bank is expanding its footprint in key markets that will enable it to focus on the West East Corridor whilst establishing major wholesale regional hubs to provide clients with an integrated and truly global service.

This year Abu Dhabi hosts the final round of the 2014 FIA Formula One World Championship. The 2014 FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX will commence on November 21st, and concludes on November 23rd.

NBAD is a Founding Partner of the state-of-the-art Yas Marina Circuit, which hosts the FORMULA 1 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX, is one of the worlds’ best racing venues.
