Drydocks World classifies its marine fleet with Tasneef

Emirates Classification Society (TASNEEF), the Abu Dhabi-based agency of classification of ships and offshore platforms, has signed a contract with Drydocks World whereby Tansneef will provide classification and maritime surveying services to the Dubai-based shipyard’s fleet of approximately 11 ships including marine excavators.

Tansneef said so far it had thoroughly surveyed three of Drydocks’ ships Shindagha-5, Umm Suqeem and Zabeel-4 and that the rest of the fleet was scheduled for classification and surveying after confirming that it complies with all the classification rules, International regulations and U.A.E. flag statutory requirements.

“This contract allows ship owners to receive the national classification which helps in raising the U.A.E. flag high above, and increasing the carrying capacity of the ships contributing to enhancing the services in the national maritime sector, simultaneously, it ensures the success of Emirates Classification Society (TASNEEF) in becoming one of the world’s most prominent classification societies through providing high quality services,” said Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World said.

Tansneef said Drydocks World conforms to the internationally accredited system of quality control management in all of its activities and services and has won global awards in the field of quality control which contributes to increasing its customer base both regionally and globally.

Rashed Al Hebsi, CEO of Tasneef emphasised that Tasneef will provide the fleet with high quality services including classification, surveying and technical consulting, in addition to research and development services provided by experienced and high-qualified national and foreign personnel.

Al Hebsi added that Tansneef will issue the compulsory certificates that conform to international standards required to guarantee the safety of the ship’s body and engine, the safety of the crew on board and the maritime environment as a whole, according to SOLAS (International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea) and MARPOL (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships).
