Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industries, DCCI, has highlighted lucrative investment environment of Dubai and the advantages associated with setting up business in the emirate.

A delegation of the chamber recently participated in a seminar entitled ‘‘Implantation in Dubai: A Platform opened to the Gulf and the Middle East Market’’, which was organised by Sfax Chamber at hotel les Oliviers Palace, Sfax, in Tunisia.

The seminar was attended by Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman, Dubai Chamber, Salem Issa Qattam Al Zaabi, U.A.E. Ambassador to the Republic of Tunisia, and Ridha Fourati, President of the Sfax Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the country’s Sfax governorate.

Dubai Chamber presentation highlighted important investment sectors in the emirate and joint cooperation opportunities that existed between Tunisia and the U.A.E.

In his keynote address, Al Ghurair said that this meeting will contribute to building a stronger bilateral relationship between the U.A.E. and Tunisia. He added that the U.A.E. offers an ideal platform for the growth and expansion of Tunisian companies into the region as well as into South East Asian countries.

He further stressed that Dubai Chamber was looking forward to enhance trade cooperation with Tunisia which currently ranked 94th on the list of Dubai’s trading partners as the emirate’s non-oil trade with the country reached AED 921 million last year. He also pointed to the presence of 203 Tunisian companies registered with Dubai Chamber and operating in the emirate.

‘‘We see Tunisian companies benefitting from Dubai’s extensive modern infrastructure and competitive, tax-free working environment, unconditional government support to overseas investors in light of its new strategy to shift to smart government services to keep pace with the growth and development in the world,’’ said Al Ghurair.

The Chairman of Dubai Chamber also highlighted the investment opportunities available for Tunisian companies in the emirate’s key economic sectors including trade, tourism, financial and logistics services which he said are the major attractions for overseas investors wanting to invest in Dubai.

Al Ghurair called upon Tunisian companies, particularly those from the sectors of trade, agriculture and industry to set up base in Dubai which he said is an ideal hub for expansion in the region. He reiterated the Chamber’s commitment to provide all the facilities to Tunisian businesses to enhance their competitiveness in the region.

The delegation met Najla Moalla Harrouch, Tunisian Minister of Commerce and Crafts and discussed new avenues to enhance economic cooperation between the two sides while taking their bilateral relations to the next level.

Dubai Chamber also had a meeting with Donald Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank, which focused on the opportunities arising from Dubai’s hosting of the World Expo 2020. The Chamber delegation highlighted the economic potential of Dubai, especially in the area of trade.
