Sharjah Sustainable City, a fully sustainable residential community developed by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) in partnership with Diamond Developers, has partnered with thesixth edition of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SEF) 2022 to showcase its unique journey towards developing the first fully sustainable community in Sharjah and an eco-friendly city that promotes a lifestyle compatible with the future.

Organized by Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) under the theme #WhereWeBelong, SEF 2022 will be held on 17 – 18 December 2022 at the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park. The not-for-profit event brings together global changemakers, CEOs of leading companies, entrepreneurs, investors, artists, and media influencers for a weekend of inspiration, connection, and transformation.

Sharjah Sustainable City is one of the festival’s main partners and will power the Sustainability Zone at the event, which features some of the most advanced innovations in the field. It will also have a booth at the event to showcase its unique real estate initiative that supports national and global efforts toward sustainability.

The event aligns with Sharjah Sustainable City’s commitment to supporting innovation in the UAE and the government’s efforts toward reducing the country’s carbon footprint. The residential community is a working model for smart and sustainable cities implementing the latest technologies and environmental best practices in real estate.

Commenting on the partnership, His Excellency Yousif Ahmed Al-Mutawa, Chief Executive Officer of Sharjah Sustainable City, said: “We are delighted to be part of this year’s Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SEF). It’s a significant platform for us to showcase and inform participants about the importance of living sustainably and how this initiative leads to not only saving the environment but also improving people’s well-being. Through our sponsorship of the festival’s Sustainability Zone, we are strengthening the message of sustainable development and a circular economy in Sharjah and the entire UAE.”

For her part, Najla Al Midfa, CEO of Sheraa, said: “The sixth edition of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival will be our largest gathering to date, bringing together the leading innovators and changemakers from the region and accelerating the conversation on sustainable entrepreneurship. Partners like Sharjah Sustainable City highlight the great progress Sharjah has made on sustainable initiatives and innovations.”

She added: “SEF 2022 provides a platform for entrepreneurs and businesses in the region to connect, network, and showcase their innovative ideas and solutions, helping to promote economic development and support the growth of sustainable businesses in the region. The Festival’s core ethos works to provide a diverse and engaged community to all entrepreneurs, ensuring they are supported and elevated throughout their start-up journey.”

The two-day event is expected to be the biggest edition yet and will feature stages focusing on different topics such as impact, creativity, tech, wellness, and community to represent the major pillars of entrepreneurship, enabling impactful conversations and meaningful connections throughout the two days.

What’s more, the event will also feature pitches from 100 start-up companies invited by Sheraa to present their vision to leading investors from various sectors in the region, followed by chance to compete for monetary prizes to provide funding for their ideas.

Proceeds from this year’s festival will be donated to The Big Heart Foundation, a UAE-based non-profit that has provided health, education and emergency aid services, among others, to more than 4.5 million refugees in 29+ countries.
