The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has introduced its first-ever Sustainability Label Programme, a pioneering initiative in the emirate aimed at enhancing sustainability preparedness, competitiveness, and long-term resilience across Abu Dhabi’s business sector.

Designed as a practical and accessible framework aligned with the emirate’s economic objectives, the programme supports businesses of all sizes by offering clear direction, expert advisory services, and recognised certification. These elements help companies respond to growing global sustainability requirements while positioning themselves for new commercial opportunities, investment, and financing.
The launch comes at a time when sustainable business practices are playing an increasingly influential role in global supply chains, investor decision-making, and access to sustainable finance. Businesses are now expected to demonstrate strong governance, transparency, and measurable sustainability performance.
Supporting Abu Dhabi’s Falcon Economy vision, the Sustainability Label features a structured, tier-based system that enables companies to evaluate and strengthen their sustainability capabilities across four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Diamond. The model integrates assessment with skill development, offering organisations a clear roadmap from initial awareness to fully embedded sustainability practices.
Shamis Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Second Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, said that sustainability is now fundamental to building trust, unlocking opportunities, and ensuring long-term success in the global economy. He added that the programme equips members with the tools to enhance credibility, attract investment, and compete effectively in international markets, reflecting Abu Dhabi’s commitment to developing a future-ready private sector.
Participating companies will undertake a structured development process that includes facilitated assessment workshops led by sustainability experts, a maturity scorecard, customised reports identifying key improvement areas, one-on-one advisory sessions, and capacity-building programmes. These will include sustainable finance training delivered in collaboration with local banking partners.
In addition, businesses will gain access to practical resources such as greenhouse gas emissions calculators for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, along with reporting checklists to support transparent and responsible disclosure.
Selected participants from the inaugural cohort will be formally recognised during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, providing an international platform to highlight their progress and commitment to sustainable business practices.
Ali Mohamed Al Marzooqi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, emphasised that the Chamber represents the breadth of Abu Dhabi’s private sector and remains committed to supporting companies on their sustainability journey. He noted that the Sustainability Label Programme is a key step toward fostering long-term growth, improving access to finance, and strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of the emirate’s business community.
