AMF, JICA sign MoU

 The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF and The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with the aim to strengthen the cooperation between the two parties to meet the financial and monetary authorities’ needs in the Arab countries.

The MoU has specified the joint cooperation framework between the two institutions in the Arab region.

The AMF said in a statement today that it is working to enhance the foundations of monetary integration of Arab economies, provide financial and technical support for the development and economic growth, pointing out that the JICA is one of the most active international development agencies in the region.

Akihiko Tanaka, President of the JICA, affirmed that the MoU would be a starting point for the discussion of specific work programmes between the two parties to enhance and develop the Arab financial sector.

For his part, Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al Hamidy, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of AMF, said the development of financial and banking sector, and financial markets provide opportunities for training and capacity building, which are among the top priorities of the AMF to enhance development in the Arab region.
