The Ministerial Council for Services today discussed an e-project to update the comprehensive plan for development of federal buildings and projects towards 2030.

According to a memorandum submitted by the Ministry of Public Works, the project will update the geographical information system (GIS) at the ministry and link it with all other federal and local entities. Stakeholders will have access to important data that affect decision-making and help design plans and identify development frameworks for urban centres.

Chaired by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the meeting also discussed recommendations put forward by the Federal National Council regarding policy of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme which call for greater involvement of the private sector in implementation of the Programme’s plans and for enhanced coordination between the Programme and other federal and local government entities.

FNC recommendations on the policy of Emirates Authority For Standardization & Metrology (ESMA) were also discussed.

The Council also reviewed an operational plan by the Ministry of Health for opening 16 new specialised hospitals and health centres across the country.

The Council took note of a memorandum presented by the Ministry of Economy regarding issuance of the executive regulations of the Federal Law No. 4 of 2012 regarding Competition. The legislation regulates corporate competition and intellectual property rights within the U.A.E.

and abroad. The bill also regulates economic activities practiced outside the U.A.E. but have impact local competition.

The council discussed a number of items on its agenda and took appropriate actions on them.
