Ducab, the Middle East s leading manufacturer of high quality cables and cabling products, has been selected to supply cables and accessories to the Saudi Arabian authorities responsible for the expansion and enhancement of the Mataf area beside Al Masjed Al Haram, within the Holy Site at Mecca.

The expansion project aims to strengthen the infrastructure and increase capacity in this area from 50,000 pilgrims per hour to 130,000 pilgrims per hour.

Assuring safety for millions of pilgrims during the year for Hajj and Umrah is a prime consideration for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and, as a consequence, Ducab has been selected to supply products from its internationally certified Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) cables and wires in addition to the FlamBICC Range of fire retardant cables.

Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, Chairman of Ducab, said, “We have been given an opportunity to work closely with the most iconic symbol of the Middle East, and as a U.A.E.-based firm, it is a matter of pride and a sign of our commitment to our culture and community that we are playing a role in the expansion and strengthening of facilities at the Holy Site. It is an honour to be chosen to help ensure the safety of our brothers and sisters while they carry out their pilgrimage and sacred duties at Al Masjed Al Haram.” The first phase of the expansion project is scheduled for completion before the Holy Month of Ramadan. Subsequent phases will continue the expansion and also bring in modern solutions to ensure smooth movement, reduced crowding, and facilities for the aged and disabled.

“Our certified cables have been selected for their proven longevity and ability to perform well even in testing conditions. We have been driving the conversation with civil defence authorities and our customers around the world on fire safety and the benefits of low-smoke, zero-halogen cables, and this selection is testament to Ducab s leadership in this area,” Al Dhaheriadded.

Ducab has a history of success in the Kingdom, having supplied cables and accessories for the King Abdullah Financial District, Riyadh, and the Ras Al Khair project in the Eastern province of the Kingdom.
