H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, visited the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi in the Saadiyat Cultural District, ahead of its public opening on 22 November 2025.

Spanning more than 35,000 square metres, the museum is the largest of its kind in the Middle East, showcasing the natural history of the Arab region and the world through state-of-the-art scientific displays and immersive exhibits. Visitors are taken on a journey through 13.8 billion years of Earth’s history, from the formation of the universe and solar system, to the evolution of life, the age of dinosaurs, and today’s biodiversity.

The Crown Princes toured the museum’s dramatic atrium, featuring a world-first exhibition of a herd of sauropod dinosaurs arranged dynamically to recreate a prehistoric moment. They also explored the museum’s educational and environmental content, designed to promote scientific thinking, environmental awareness, and sustainability, encouraging visitors to reflect on humanity’s relationship with nature and the importance of conservation.

H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasised that the museum demonstrates the UAE’s advancing leadership in the natural sciences and public education. He noted that it offers a knowledge-rich environment to support scientific understanding and foster future generations’ curiosity, research capabilities, and responsible innovation.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum highlighted the museum’s role as a cultural and scientific milestone, enhancing the UAE’s status as a global hub for knowledge, research, and evidence-based innovation.

They were accompanied by senior officials, including Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

The museum features permanent galleries including The Story of Earth, The Evolving World, Our World, Resilient Planet, and Earth’s Future, alongside interactive spaces such as The PalaeoLab, The Life Sciences Lab, Arabia’s Climate, Beyond the Horizon, and The Human Story. The Interactive Theatre offers visitors immersive visual experiences that bring natural history to life.

Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi forms part of the Saadiyat Cultural District, joining world-class institutions such as Louvre Abu Dhabi, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, and the soon-to-open Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, reinforcing the district as a global centre for culture, science, and creativity, where knowledge, art, and innovation converge.
