Riyadh is set to gain detailed insights into its population with a new demographic survey covering all 217 neighbourhoods and nearly 6,000 square kilometres
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), in collaboration with the General Authority for Statistics, has launched a Household Demographic Survey to capture the evolving profile of the city’s residents amid rapid population growth and broad-based urban development.
The survey aims to monitor and analyse Riyadh’s demographic characteristics, including social, educational, and economic factors, housing conditions, migration trends, and internal mobility. The project will provide a comprehensive understanding of the city’s current population, using approved statistical methodologies.
Implemented in multiple phases, the initiative begins with field data collection and analysis using advanced digital tools, culminating in the development of demographic indicators to support sustainable urban planning, enhance public services, and improve residents’ quality of life. The survey spans all 217 neighbourhoods within Riyadh’s development protection boundaries, covering 5,960 square kilometres.
This initiative forms part of the RCRC’s ongoing commitment to provide up-to-date population data, enabling effective urban planning, accurate monitoring of city dynamics, and anticipation of future trends, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
