Mohammed bin Rashid reviews host of RTA development projects

Roads and Transport Authority ”RTA”

Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, was briefed on Wednesday, on a number of the strategic development plans of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The projects are being implemented in Dubai until year 2020, which coincides with Dubai EXPO 2020, one of the most important international events.

He was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Lt. General Misbah bin Rashid AI Fattan, Director of the Office of the Vice-President and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed and his accompanying delegation were briefed on the details of ambitious strategic and development projects, including the development of Dubai Creek routes, public transport including Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, buses, maritime transport and taxis.

In his presentation, Mattar Mohammad Al Tayer, RTA’s Chairman of the Board & Executive Director, said that the plans include the development and widening of the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Street and finding effective solutions to ease the traffic jam on this vital street through constructing bridges and new subways.

He also got familiarised with the development plan of public transport and routes of bicycles to increase their number to 900 until year 2030, as per the directives of Sheikh Mohammed.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed his satisfaction on the projects of the RTA, stressing that they will be implemented as per the highest standards, and will serve citizens and expatriate residents, visitors and tourists as well.
