The Maison is honored to reveal a bespoke creation crafted exclusively for Wes Anderson’s latest film, The Phoenician Scheme, a darkly comic tale of espionage and family ties.

Captivated by the charm of a cross pendant made by Cartier around 1880, now part of the Cartier  Collection, the director envisioned a contemporary version that could accompany one of the characters throughout the film. To bring this vision to life, the Maison’s High Jewellery studio designed a unique rosary in 2024: the archival cross was reinterpreted on a larger scale for cinematic visibility, while a chain with rose-cut diamonds was created to offer a vintage feel, echoing the aesthetic universe of Wes  Anderson.

Rooted in Cartier’s stylistic language, the creation, worn by the lead actress Mia Threapleton, features  the Maison’s emblematic contrast of rubies and emeralds, a combination explored for over a century.  Stylised circular motifs, set with square-shaped diamonds, further reflect Cartier’s enduring affinity  for geometry and graphic patterns.

The rosary will join the Cartier Collection, travelling the world to illustrate the Maison’s creativity and  technical expertise in leading exhibitions and cultural institutions.

The film also reveals another Cartier creation, subtly woven into the narrative: a High Jewellery  diamond ring, presented in the Maison’s signature red box during a poignant proposal scene.

Cartier & Cinema

Through this collaboration, the Maison reaffirms its commitment to the world of cinema, a relationship  that has flourished from the beginning of the 20th century.

As official partner of the Venice International Film Festival, Cartier has been associated with the  Venice Biennale since 2021 and continues to support contemporary cinematic creation, most notably  through the annual Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award, which Wes Anderson received in 2023.

Wes Anderson was born in Houston, Texas. His films include Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal  Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise  Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs, The French Dispatch and Asteroid City, as well as  the short film compilation The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More. His latest film, The  Phoenician Scheme, is set for release on May 30 from Focus Features.
