Elon Musk’s Company And RTA Collaborate On Innovative Transport Solution

Elon Musk’s company and the RTA signed an agreement to connect and manage busy areas last Thursday at the World Government Summit 2025 (WGS) during a virtual session between Musk and Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications.

The agreement was signed under the witness of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai to develop a transport system for Dubai, known as the ‘Dubai Loop.’

According to Sheikh Hamdan, the project aims to “revolutionise transportation” through underground transport. Sheikh Hamdan says, “The project reflects Dubai’s commitment to advancing new cutting-edge mobility solutions.”

The Boring Company (TBC) announces that the memorandum of understanding includes an initial pilot phase featuring 11 stations and 17 kilometres of tunnel, capable of transporting 20,000 people per hour. This phase will transport passengers in electric vehicles through tunnels at speeds of up to 160 km per hour.

The collaboration aims to use sustainable, innovative technologies to transport passengers safely and efficiently through TBC’s already successful loop system, which has transported over two million passengers across Las Vegas since 2021.

Speaking at the WGS 2025, Al Olama states that the Dubai Loop will “cover Dubai’s most densely populated areas for people to go from point to point,” while Musk compares it to a “wormhole.” He continues to explain why it is such a great idea. “What’s really useful about tunnels is alleviating traffic in congested areas,” he says. “In Las Vegas, we’re busy connecting the whole city with all the big hotels, the convention centre, and the airport.”

This initiative underscores Dubai’s dedication to pioneering advancements in transport by integrating sustainable and technological solutions. No timeline has been announced for the project yet.
