The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) and Dubai Cares have signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting the Dubai-based philanthropic organisation’s efforts in the UAE, and developing countries, through a series of fundraising and community engagement initiatives.

According to the agreement, signed by Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology, and Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares, Dubai Cares will provide assistance to HCT students in their projects, research papers and theses on various topics as well as share reports and findings with the colleges from its primary education programs in developing countries.

Furthermore, the agreement presents Dubai Cares’ employees with the opportunity to visit the HCT campuses to conduct lectures and presentations to faculty, staff and students on various philanthropy topics.

As part of the agreement, HCT will roll out fundraising activities amongst their students to raise funds for the philanthropic organisation in support of providing quality primary education to children in developing countries.

In addition, HCT students will be invited to participate in Dubai Cares’ community engagement activities such as Volunteer Emirates, Volunteer Globally and Walk for Education. HCT students will also get the chance to join Dubai Cares staff during field visits in developing countries.

Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor of HCT, said, “We look forward to having a very active partnership with Dubai Cares as we support them in their worthy cause. We strive not only to produce high-achieving students, but also valuable members of their communities and our nation who devote time and effort in the service and support of others who may be in need, whether locally or internationally.” Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares, said, “To date, Dubai Cares is reaching more than 8 million children in 31 developing countries. Our achievements as a philanthropic organization would not have been realized without the support of organizations such as HCT, which recognises the weight and impact of our philanthropic efforts. We greatly value their support, which will offer us an opportunity to work closely with their students and faculty who will become goodwill ambassadors in their own communities, spreading the word about the impact our programs are making on the lives of millions around the world.”
