Abu Dhabi Department of Finance organizes 2024 Budget Cycle

Building on its pivotal role in establishing a pioneering financial system that promotes fiscal stability and prosperity within society, the Department of Finance – Abu Dhabi organized the 2024 Budget Cycle event, which garnered immense participation. Over 400 representatives from various government entities across the Emirate attended the event, including Undersecretaries, Director Generals, and VIP representatives from various government entities.

During the event, participants explored the most efficient ways of allocating government resources. It offered valuable insights into the fundamental aspects of preparing the 2024 budget, encompassing strategic plans and approaches aimed at fostering growth and development within the financial sector. This aligns with government priorities and a commitment to the optimal allocation of government financial resources. Achieving this goal involves embracing the values of innovation, cooperation, and transparency, channeling collective efforts toward realizing desired objectives.

Commenting on the event, Buthaina Al Mazroui, Acting Director General of Government Financial Affairs at the Department of Finance, stated, “Through this event, we aim to advance financial efficiency and reinforce the core principles of transparency within the financial sector. It perfectly aligns with the visionary directives of our wise leadership, aiming to enhance the quality of services provided and pave the way for a promising future for all. Our objective is to foster robust cooperation between the Department of Finance and government entities, with a shared commitment to crafting successful financial plans that contribute to sustainable growth and uplift the well-being and prosperity of our community.”

She added, “With the unwavering support of our leadership, we forge ahead in our relentless pursuit of excellence for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. We are confident that our ambitious vision, coupled with steadfast collaboration with our government partners, as well as our dedication and commitment to excellence, serve as the bedrock for realizing our aspirations. Our ultimate goal is to further solidify Abu Dhabi’s standing as a leading global hub for innovation, financial sustainability, and comprehensive development.”

Interactive discussion sessions were an integral part of the event. The presentations provided a comprehensive overview of the statistics related to the preparation and implementation of the 2023 budget. They also highlighted the enhancements and new additions in the upcoming 2024 budget, emphasizing the significance of cultivating a culture of fiscal planning across all sectors.

Furthermore, the event featured interactive and practical sessions with representatives from the Department of Finance, as well as notable speakers from the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority, the Human Resources Authority, and other relevant government entities. The first session focused on budget preparation, while the second session delved into spending reviews. A closed discussion session was dedicated to exploring mechanisms of financial cooperation, fostering active participation from budget teams representing both the Department of Finance and various government entities.

The event served as an interactive platform, allowing diverse teams from government entities in the Emirate to gain valuable insights into best practices for preparing the 2024 budget.
