Mubadara Annual Young Enterprise of the Year Competition “Mubadara 2014” celebrated Sunday a new generation of business leaders during a ceremony hosted by INJAZ Qatar, a non-profit organization and member of Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide.
Winners of Mubadara 2014 were announced last night during a big ceremony held at the Hamad Bin Khalifa University Student Center in presence of 300 guests and a group of potential investors.
Mubadara 2014 is a competition for student enterprises established through Junior Achievement’s globally recognized Company Program. Ten student teams from Qatar’s independent secondary schools and five student teams from universities in Qatar were provided with the opportunity to establish and run a real business over four months with the guidance of professionals from leading businesses across Qatar.
The Mubadara competition consists of four stages, which are judged by an esteemed panel of judges: students firstly drafted an initial Company Report detailing their business and company approach.
Last Saturday, the students delivered their business presentations and took part in panel interviews at the Qatar University Center for Entrepreneurship. The student teams also participated in a public student trade fair on March 27 which was hosted by Enterprise Qatar.
The winner teams were “MiniRature” from Al Bayan Independent Secondary School and “MetFame” from Qatar University. The two teams will represent the State of Qatar in INJAZ Al-Arab Young Arab Entrepreneurs Competition. The competition will see students from 15 countries across the MENA region competing for the highly coveted ‘Best Student Company of the Year Award’ before a panel of high-profile Pan Arab business leaders.
The university-level winners and runners-up of the Best Student Company Award at Mubadara will this year be given the opportunity for their businesses to take part in the brand new INJAZ Qatar Start-Up Program.
As part of the program the student companies will receive a combination of seed funding and 20 hours of professional mentoring. The start-ups will also be provided with incubation over a two year period offered by Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC). INJAZ Qatar will also be helping the start-ups by inviting potential investors to attend the Mubadara 2014 business presentations, panel interviews and the awards ceremony.
