Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island Celebrates One Year of Success

Since its opening in July 2021 the stand-out property has welcomed nearly 300,000 guests.

This summer, Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island celebrates its first anniversary, marking a year of achievements in guest numbers, sustainability and operations.

The expansive property officially opened its doors in July 2021 in Ras Al Khaimah’s newest beachfront destination, Marjan Island and within the year has quickly become the destination of choice in the Northern Emirate for families, couples and friends alike. The largest Hampton by Hilton in the world, the property features a 750-metre beach, infinity pool and awe-inspiring sea views, perfect for sun-seekers. For gastronomes, Karma Kafe and Claw BBQ provide a fun-filled culinary escape with live entertainment. Claw BBQ is home to the widely recognised ‘Mechanical Bull’; the record for which currently stands at 46 seconds. The hotel also brings together a diverse team comprised of 34 nationalities, offering guests outstanding levels of service.

The past 12 months witnessed the property’s continuous efforts to pioneer sustainable ventures for the property, surpassing targets set by General Manager, John Riad in July of 2021 when the hotel first started welcoming guests. The property also embarked on various initiatives to give back to the local community including a clothing donation campaign in collaboration with Al Ihsan Charity Association, Ras Al Khaimah.

“It makes me extremely proud to see the accomplishments Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island has achieved in just one year.” Says John Riad, General Manager of the property. “When we opened the hotel in July 2021, it was with a clear vision to become the destination of choice in Marjan Island while also embodying Hilton’s overarching philosophy of making positive contributions to the local environment. We rounded up our first year having welcomed almost 300,00 guests and we look forward to continue leading with the ongoing support of our staff and guests.”

Sustainability Initiatives

The hotel was able to accomplish notable feats in only a short amount of time, including being awarded the RAK Green Hotel Award in May 2022 for the exceptional performance and dedication towards the success of the Green Hotel Initiative in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The property has also been nominated for the Middle East’s Leading Green Hotel 2022 by the World Travel Awards, the travel industry’s most prestigious awards programme, rewarding leaders in the tourism, airline, hotel and hospitality sectors.

Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island is the first property in the Hilton portfolio in the region to have a Biodigester, a food composter that converts food waste to greywater, reducing the carbon footprint of the property. This innovative initiative is part of a strategy to help the property meet their zero-waste sustainability goals.

Upon opening, the property was also the first hotel to gift all 40 guest General Managers an ‘Ocean Bottle’ – the reusable bottles stemmed from an international maritime conservation initiative where 11.368kg of plastic, bound for the ocean, is collected for every bottle bought.

Over the course of the year, the property has accumulated a substantial number of recyclables counting 384 plastic bottles and cans, 192 glass bottles, and 54 tons of cardboard sent to the municipality for recycling purposes. Additionally, 3,600 litres of used cooking oil were forwarded to the municipality to be recycled into bio diesel. Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island is held at a higher standard than other Hilton hotels and is expected to lead the EMEA region in sustainability efforts as one of the latest hotel additions.
