Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State has said the UAE’s winning of the bid to host Expo 2020 “represents an unprecedented achievement to the region, and reflects the spirit of the union, as it highlights the spirit of teamwork, love and allegiance to the country by those who took part in campaigning for the UAE Expo file.
He called for stepping up efforts to feature a high-profile and qualitative expo event- comes 2020.
The remarks were made on Wednesday evening during a talk show on Expo 2020 themed: ‘Connecting Minds… Creating the Future’. The event is part of cultural programmes of the 24th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.
Al Jaber said the success of UAE to host Expo 2020 was a result of number of factors, notably, the strategy had been outlined by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan through his keenness on communicating with all countries worldwide, adding that during his promotional tour to many countries he was met with warmth and genuine promises to unwaveringly back the UAE’s Expo bid in recognition to the support of late Sheikh Zayed to those countries.

Al Jaber noted that the success scored by the UAE in the energy file and IRENA have bolstered the competitive role of the UAE, and encouraged other countries to back the UAE, adding that Masdar has also played in the beginning a strategic role in support of Expo file.
For her part, Hind Al Shamsi, official spokesperson for the Dubai Expo 2020, said the Expo 2020 represents a qualitative shift to the UAE and whole region, citing that gaining 114 votes was not accidental, thanks to historic status of the UAE. She added that the UAE dreams higher to stage a cultural heritage that would resonate for long.
